Further Update on Phased Return

Thursday 4th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Continued Phased Return for Academy

As per the letters sent out at the end of May, you will be aware that the academy has moved forward with our plans for wider opening. We have completed a thorough risk assessment process for our school and have thought carefully about how we proceed with our wider opening plans.

We are continuing our careful, step-by-step process to planning and continue to review our risk assessment according to government guidelines.

Following this process, and subject to further government announcements and Public Health advice, we have established that we are now in a position to offer the following provision:

  • Our emergency childcare provision that began on Tuesday 2nd June for the children of key workers and vulnerable children will continue to be provided from England Lane Academy.
  • From Monday 8th June, the provision will be extended to those children of key workers and vulnerable children, whose parents have previously declared their requirement for a place via the academy office, have presented their keyworker evidence and have been placed on the reserve list. Eligible pupils will receive text confirmation of their place.
  • Sadly, due to government guidelines about prioritising key worker and vulnerable children, and social distancing, we are currently not in a position to be able to offer any places to our Y6, Y1 or EYFS eligible pupils.

We will continue to review our provision and extend this, if and when appropriate. By 2pm, each Friday, we will send an update to all parents for the following week.

Children accessing the provision should not bring their own lunch or personal items in order to limit transmission risk. All resources required will be provided and a lunch menu will be shared with parents prior to each week commencing. Lunches will cost £2.10 per day and payments should be made via the ParentPay app. Should you require any support with ParentPay, please contact the office via phone or email. A free school meal will be provided to those children who are eligible.

Vulnerable Children

We are aware that some parents are choosing not to take up their place offer. Government guidance requires the academy to continue to keep this space open for those pupils. In order to allow us to extend our key worker offer, we request that parents of vulnerable children provide the academy with a minimum of 2 days’ notice if they do decide to send their child so that we can make the necessary arrangements required.

Please continue to update the office if you require a keyworker place. The academy will continue to operate a reserve list system as we work to find ways to support all requests.

Work Packs

We will continue to provide our online home learning menus for all year groups on the website. You can find these here:

From next week, we will be in a position to offer further paper work packs for children who still remain at home for those of you struggling to access online resources. Please notify the office either via phone call or email using the contact details at the top of this letter if you would like a paper work pack printing. Parents who wish to uptake this offer will then be sent further details on how to collect these packs.

Staff at the academy would like to express how much they miss each and every one of our children and we are looking forward to welcoming back all pupils at some point in the future.

Yours Sincerely,

Helen Prout

Head of Academy
